International Parade outside your window right friggin' now. [Jul. 25th, 2005|09:42 am]

Woke up on Sat. morning to hear a parade going on in the street right below my window. I went down to watch it; I'd forgotten that the Festival of Nations thing was happening that day.

The parade was fairly nifty: some little kids doing a 'Golden Lion Dance', you know, Chinatown style, kept trying to hand the heavy mask back and forth to each other as they were marching. "No, it's 98 degrees, you wear this stupid thing!"

And the festival itself in Tower Grove park was interesting, because you'd see Japanese ladies in full kimonos over at the Mexican booth, snacking on enchiladas, and a woman from Liberia showing her embroidery to a Scotsman in a kilt. A total global microcosm thing. With fresh smoothies!

The only problem was the godawful 100-degree-115-heat-index temperatures. Other than that, it was cool.

Later that night, me and my guy went out to see Batman Begins, and we both were extremely happy to see no nipples on the Batsuit. And Michael Caine as "Master-Bruce-you're-full-of-crap" Alfred. And little touches swiped from Frank Miller's Year One.
